Treats
West Wash Park, Denver, Colorado, USA
2025
Rosie’s, a West Wash Park ice cream parlor, loves to give treats to people and their pets. Partnering up with illustrator and graphic designer, Christian Musselman, we hand painted this 12’ x 40’ mural to welcome fur buddies and their best friends.
Translating digital to analog.
Musselman lives in the world of digital design and illustration, and we worked to translate his work into a something for the real world—lumpy walls and all. We tested and tested, and finally arrived on developing a massive grid using a laser level and many, many pencil marks.
Color, contrast, scale.
Many paint test samples were used to get the right balance, and shades of the primary colors were used to trick the eye into a larger, more interesting palette. The artwork does a great job of not overpowering one hue, and clever contrasts help to break up the visuals into multiple stories. Its great to watch kids discover new pieces of the art… “those are sprinkles!”… “did you see that paw print?!”
