Complementary colors come full circle

A Krisana Park mid-mod sanctuary underwent a recent remodel inside and out. As the beautiful design settled into place, it also revealed opportunities for more. A new floor-to-ceiling door and window flooded the kitchen with delicious light, but also revealed the view of an old fence and concrete retaining wall. A new patio off the master bedroom nestled right into an old shed wall. Could we launch these less-than-stellar views into the style stratosphere? We worked with local artist Christian Musselman to create a unique, multi-pieced mural with seven-foot tall panels to make a dramatic visual statement.
A new galaxy of colors
The architects selected a planetary-inspired orange paint for the front door and Musselman brought this orange together with a provocative set of complementary cool colors— from a deep space-hued blue-gray to a conversational gray-green. These colors populated a circle-based design that drew inspiration from an original circular flagstone patio and a new circle-patterned breezeblock wall.
Bringing the design down to earth
The dreamy design needed a strong foundation to weather the harsh Colorado sun and snow. We painted the galaxy of colors across MDO panels— known for their outdoor durability. We also leveraged French cleats to hang the panels securely and independently of the old fence. The result completed the renovation with new vistas in this modern sanctuary.
